Our history began in 1880 with a simple craft: the art of ice cream, passed through several generations.

Our mission is to make people happy, from the oldest to the youngest, making them taste a unique and exclusive ice cream.

The recognition and appreciation of people, who every day come in numbers to try our ice cream, has given us the stimulus to make our products known beyond the Palermo area. Our greatest commitment has also become our motto:

The ancient secret recipe of Sicilian artisan ice cream was born in 1880 to Mister Pietro, our Grand-Grandfather. Through 5 generations and a constant development in pursuing the best ingredients, the recipe still remains jealously guarded by the Cannella family.

Salvatore Cannella, Pietro’ son, started selling his Sicilian artisan ice cream in Capaci and Ballaró areas, making people taste Al Buon Gelato ice cream.

First Shop

In 1961, Salvatore Cannella, flanked by his wife, opened the first stable shop in Capaci, Sicily. The tradition, which began eighty years earlier, was then consolidated in the now famous ice cream shop “AL BUON GELATO” by Salvatore Cannella
